"Upon Thy Gates - Paintings to Ponder" is an invitation to ponder some of the eternal mysteries of spirit. Regardless of the wisdom inherent in a word, phrase, allegory, parable or concept, our fast-paced lives have habituated us to jumping to the next thing and the next and the next without taking the time to really "ponder." In Deuteronomy 6:8-9 we find the key to pondering words of wisdom - and that is to keep these words before us every day - hence the admonition to "write them upon the doorposts of thy house, and upon thy gates." We pass through the gates of our houses - in our comings and goings - on the way to or from this or that - and so we are not inclined to stop and ponder.

I have made paintings of "words of wisdom" that particularly move me. And I have put them on walls - in a room where we spend time. And so I am confronted by them on a daily basis. It has transformed my life.
